The big smoke

I'm spending a few days in London for the rest of half term. We arrived yesterday and first stops were Hamleys for my little girl (I had to pinky swear that this would be the first place we went to!) and then Carnaby Street. We came across a fabulous bead shop in Kingley Court called Buffy's Beads which had the most amazing selection of gemstone strands at unusually reasonable prices. I could have bought everything but just contented myself with some beads which I wouldn't usually see. I bought kiwi jasper and aquamarine buttons.

I also bought some fabulous amethyst...

...and saving the best to last, these amazing assorted porcelain beads.

Check out Buffys Beads here.

We also had a look around the vintage clothes and jewellery shops and we visited Liberty which was a real experience. I loved the Jewellery room, it was great to see the jewellery in real life instead of drooling over it on the website like I normally do! There is a definite 70's vibe with plenty of agate and upcycling vintage costume pieces with new beads and chain, in fact, lots of chain!

Today we went to the Natural History museum which was really amazing and tomorrow we are planning to go to Portobello Road which is the best place to see and buy vintage jewellery in my opinion, I can't wait!

  1. Enjoy your time away! I'm happy to hear about Buffy's Beads selection...hope it is still there when we go to London (in a year or two). Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hadn't heard of WireWorker's Guild before. I'll be following both blogs now, thanks!

  2. Oh, wow, congratulations on your wonderful shoppings! Those amethysts are to die for! ;)
Thank you for stopping by my blog! I appreciate it! ;)

  3. Hi Deb and congratulations, my husband has just pulled your name out of the bowl, so you have won the sparkly earrings on my first ever blog give away!!!!
Please could you email me your address,
or DM me on twitter @pearlysmith

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog on the bead soup reveal. I've been checking out your photos on here and I love your use of color. I have a hard time using a lot of color and tend to stick to black and brown. I'll be back to see future projects.

  5. Oh my goodness - I made exactly the same discovery when I was in London in January - LOVE Buffy's! And I had a great time in the haberdashery department of Liberty's....gorgeous, I could have spent a bomb.
