I signed up to a Round the World blog hop organised by Erin of Treasures Found. I have long been a fan of Erin's jewellery designs and her blog, both are thought provoking and inspirational. This is the first time I have signed up for one of Erin's challenges.
The rules for this Round the World hop were to choose a region of the world and then a country, you could choose your own or be brave and allow Erin to choose for you. I chose Oceania as the region and asked to be surprised with the country and received Vanuatu.
I have been researching Vanuatu and discovered that it is a string of 80 small islands. The landform is mainly mountainous with tropical rainforests. There are active volcanoes and tourists are attracted by the fantastic diving opportunities which include wreck diving and secluded beaches.
Having been inspired by the beautiful images of diving and the seascape which were returned through the results of a Google search, I made some earrings with blister pearls and sparkly aqua crystals.
I really enjoyed this blog hop challenge. The research element combined with designing a piece of jewellery inspired by the research was very rewarding. Please take the time to visit the other participants in the list below. I'm not sure I've got the links to work, if they don't then please visit Erin's blog in the link at the start of this post!

Thank you Erin for such a thoughtful and inspirational challenge! I can't wait to see what everyone else made.
Here is one of the countries on the hop, I have actually been to! Love the colours of your beads in those earrings..there are indeed some beautiful coloured sea areas there! Perfect with the pearls.

Your earrings certainly evoke a sparkly blue ocean, nice job.
ReplyDeletePretty earrings, and very evocative of the sea. I want to go!
ReplyDeleteshimmering ocean waters for sure, and that looks like a nice dramatic length. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove your earrings... reminds me of the ocean.
ReplyDeleteYes - perfect colors to evoke ocean and underwater treasures. A mermaid could wear those!
ReplyDeleteYour earrings definitely make me thing of the clear blue ocean. They are just lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty color of Swarovski crystals - definetly water-worthy! Love the design with the pearls, too!
ReplyDeleteVanuatu must be an amazing place to visit, Debbie! I bet the waters are as clear and blue as the beads in your lovely earrings.
ReplyDeleteLove your earrings, they are very Oceanic!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the facts about Vanuatu. I think this is the place that comes to mind when one is stranded on a desserted Island. The earrings you made as a keepsake of your trip to this remote place are gorgeous I can just picture the beautiful shimmering water and the pearls are just the right touch for this beachy pair.
Therese
Love the earrings!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful earrings! Those lovely blue crystals are perfect! And well, pearls? Classy!
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteAs pretty as crystal blue waters!
ReplyDeleteLovely earrings, I would wear those in a heartbeat! And Vanautu is a place I have never heard the name for, though I have seen the chain of islands on a map before :) This challenge was so fun! I feel like I'm learning and having fun doing it, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI had never even heard of your country before today. I am loving this hop because I am learning so much and seeing such beautiful jewelry.
ReplyDeleteVanuatu sounds like a great place to visit! I love the earrings you made. The color of the crystals are perfect!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty earrings, like the string of islands that it represents, a pearl of the Pacific for sure! Thank you for joining me on the journey around the world, Miss Deb! Enjoy the day. Erin
